Macmillan Coffee Morning Success

September 21, 2013 by rachel Leave a Comment

Today I held my first charity Coffee Morning for Macmillan Cancer Support and it was a huge success!

I decided I wanted to do it a while ago when I saw an advert for the worlds biggest coffee morning on the 27th but I decided to do it on a weekend when everyone could come and buy some cake. So I contacted some companies for raffle donations and set about planning the morning.

I took the day off yesterday to make sure I got all the baking done. Luckily there were lots of lovely people that donated their time and ingredients and brought cakes so I didn’t have to bake everything.

Last night I was really worried that no one would turn up. I should of had more faith – the room was full and we raised £376!

If you weren’t able to make it, this is what you missed…

A MASSIVE Thank you to the following people…

Jemma and Chris – you were amazing!
Mum and Amy – thanks for your help! You make a lovely tea lady Amy!!
Karen and Karl from the Colehill Sports and Social Club – thanks for all your help and for coming in early to open up for us!

The raffle was full of lots of wonderful prizes – thanks to the following for your donations –
Jodi, Rosedene Gifts, Bee’s Bespoke Holistic Therapies, Charlotte and Diane, Jill, Mum, Nanny, Jamie, Dorset Tea, The Tivoli, Clipper Teas, Bluebird Tea, Yorkshire Tea, Gallery Young and a few I have probably missed!

And a huge thanks to everyone that brought baked goods – too many of you to mention but you know who you are! You helped to make this morning a massive success!

Roll on next year!

We stayed on and had a surprise party for my grandads 80th birthday for which I made a pear and honey cake – I’ll try to post that tomorrow!

Welcome to Sunday Baking! I started this blog at the start of 2013 and it's taken me on a wonderful journey. A lot has changed in the last few years and you will now see more refined sugar free recipes (although don't worry....if you have a sweet tooth I will still be featuring regular sweet stuff too!).
I no longer post every Sunday, but the recipes I do post are 100% worth trying - if you sign up below I will email you every time I add a new recipe!
Happy Baking!
