Fijian style wedding cake

A beautiful friend asked if I would decorate her wedding cake and of course I was delighted!

Rachel and Pita had a gorgeous ceremony yesterday and I was super proud to have the cake I decorated on show to all the guests.

IMG_20150606_133625-2They wanted a simple Fijian style cake with flowers so I created them using sugarpaste. I have made them before here where you can see a step by step tutorial and they didn’t take much time at all. I just made sure I made them in advance so they had time to dry hard before painting them. The only difference this time was I painted them in edible lustre to make them shine out on the ivory cake.

I actually made half the flowers last weekend. I left them to dry in the kitchen while we had an evening out…when we returned, we found that we didn’t shut the kitchen door and our crazy cat had got in and decided to feast on them and make herself ill…so they all ended up in the bin!! Word of warning…sugarpaste and edible lustre is not good for kitties stomachs!!

Welcome to Sunday Baking! I started this blog at the start of 2013 and it's taken me on a wonderful journey. A lot has changed in the last few years and you will now see more refined sugar free recipes (although don't worry....if you have a sweet tooth I will still be featuring regular sweet stuff too!).
I no longer post every Sunday, but the recipes I do post are 100% worth trying - if you sign up below I will email you every time I add a new recipe!
Happy Baking!
