Decorate a cake with an edible Logo

July 30, 2013 by rachel Leave a Comment

Camp-Amazing-700I just wanted to share a little cake I made for a charity tea party last week.

A lovely lady at work asked if I could donate a cake for a Mad Hatters Tea Party for Camp Amazing – A camping event for children with complex needs and their   families.

I decided on a chocolate cake – everyone loves chocolate cake! I used the recipe for my really easy chocolate smarties cake.

As I was quite short on time I had to think of a plan for a quick decoration that still looked impressive. I decided to get their logo printed with edible ink on edible paper – it’s such a cute looking logo! My local cake decorating supply shop ‘The Cakery’ prints anything for you and I think it looked great – the colours were really bright. (Anyone local to Dorset should definitely check this shop out!!)

The logo is printed on reasonably thick edible paper but I was worried that the buttercream would seep through if I placed it directly onto it. So I rolled out a thin piece of Sugarpaste icing and put this down first. Then I filled the rest of the cake with smarties.

So if you are looking for a quick decorating idea get a photo, picture or logo printed by a specialist and place it on the cake to create a personalised gift that looks great!

Welcome to Sunday Baking! I started this blog at the start of 2013 and it's taken me on a wonderful journey. A lot has changed in the last few years and you will now see more refined sugar free recipes (although don't worry....if you have a sweet tooth I will still be featuring regular sweet stuff too!).
I no longer post every Sunday, but the recipes I do post are 100% worth trying - if you sign up below I will email you every time I add a new recipe!
Happy Baking!
