Christmas Baking with Kids – PART TWO Gingerbread House

December 15, 2013 by rachel Leave a Comment

I love baking and I was so excited that my nephew Rory wanted to join in last weekend. After making the Gingerbread Men Muffins (see PART ONE!!) we decided to ramp up the messiness and decorate a Gingerbread House.

Now…I have to admit something here….I bought the Gingerbread House instead of baking it. I know, I know…..but I only had a morning with my nephew and we already made the muffins from scratch so didn’t have time to make the biscuit too. SO I cheated and used a packet from Ikea.

However, if you have time, here is a great recipe.

So while Uncle Kieron stuck the house together I laid out various sweets and decorations into little bowls ready for the mayhem…

This was such great fun! I had to rein in my compulsiveness to help and make it neat though!!

I would recommend anyone with kids (or kids they can borrow!!) to give this a go at Christmas. Rory was so proud to show everyone what he made and couldn’t wait to take the chimney off and eat it!!

Welcome to Sunday Baking! I started this blog at the start of 2013 and it's taken me on a wonderful journey. A lot has changed in the last few years and you will now see more refined sugar free recipes (although don't worry....if you have a sweet tooth I will still be featuring regular sweet stuff too!).
I no longer post every Sunday, but the recipes I do post are 100% worth trying - if you sign up below I will email you every time I add a new recipe!
Happy Baking!
